Blackberry Icecream

300 grams of fresh fruit
130 grams of fine sugar
1 dessert spoon of lemon juice
150 ml's of cream
50 ml's homo milk

Wash the fruit, and mash together with the sugar and lemon juice; stir the mashed fruit mixture into the cream and milk.

Turn on the ice cream maker and pour mixture into the bowl; ice cream is ready in 25 to 35 minutes.

It also has the turbine bagging system which is not featured in these photos.

Fried Green Tomatoes

These fried green tomatoes are made with eggs and panko bread crumbs.

Ingredients:

• 4 to 6 green tomatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick
• salt and pepper
• flour for dusting
• 2 eggs, beaten
• panko bread crumbs
• bacon grease

Preparation:

Salt and pepper the tomato slices; dust lightly with flour. Dip slices in beaten egg, letting excess drip off, then coat well with meal or crumbs. Fry in hot grease or oil until browned, turning gently (about 3 minutes each side). Keep warm in a low 200° to 250° oven if frying in batches.

I had to get a shot of this crazy tomato plant.

Started it in the greenhouse in this hanging bag like thing....I then moved it outside onto this hitching post where its taken on a life of its own.

Trout!

Snagged the first two trout of the season.

The first one though is quite possibly the "lunker" of the entire river: 2 feet!

And very thick in the middle. I caught it with a small blue/silver plastic lure.

Stuffed it with herbs and lemon slices; bbqed it quickly with a bit of clarified butter...suffice to say it was the best trout I've ever had in my life.

Garlic Time

July 15th Update

It's been a brutal 2011 summer thus far, with tons of rain and cold, grey weather predominating.

As this is my first summer here, I can't compare it to year's past, however I think it's safe to say that my fruit trees are way behind where they should be.

The apples and pears are still a couple of months away.

I have two types of cherries (one is a "normal" style of cherry [not sure the name yet], and the other I'm told is a "black cherry"); they have been coming in for a weeks now.

The green house is bursting though, with peppers of various kinds and tomatoes all now visibly growing.
